over the years here on the forum...i have read with interest many da letters.

I was a member of a cult for over forty years, which had the authority over its members to tell them what they could watch, wear, what organizations they could or could not belong to and who they could be friends with. They made decisions for you on how much education you could get, what kind of work you could do, what types of celebrations you could participate in, what medical choices you could make and even where you should sit in their “Kingdom Halls”.

Elder won't marry mum because my brother's gay

i know that the elders and all jws have stupid "conscience" decisions to make from time to time, but this topped it for me.. my brother's gay and that's why he left the religion a few years ago.

now my mum wants to get re-married to another brother but the elder that she asked to marry them both declined.

he says that it would bother his conscience too much "because of luke living with you, because he's...ya know...gay!".

don't feel bad they wouldn't marry me either... both my husband and I were witnesses.

Dealing with Being DF'd

i haven't posted much here but i feel like i need some support right now.

i did post my story, but basically i'm 27, married for 7 years and i was df'd in july.

i always knew i didn't want to be a jw but went along with everything because of fear.

Hi Jen,

I am newly out but I did not have family in but close friends who changed with me even though I was not DF'd as of yet.

I agree with the other posters time heals all wounds. If you parents want to see your kids and you called them, then I would leave it at that you can't beg them to have a relationship with you or help you. Show them that you are a strong women and will do it on your own. Also, becareful not to jump into another relationship, you have enough going on now in your life.

I am a firm believer if it doesn't kill you it will make you stronger. I have just a few good friends outside the organization who love me for who I am. I am grateful for everything I have.

my first real birthday party

well, today is my birthday and i will be getting a real cake with a real candle - my dear bride-to-be promised not to put 43 candles on the cake.

it is just going to be me, her, and her 8 year old (and soon to be my step) son.

"holding out hope" or"coming back to Jah"

omfg i can't stand it anymore.. i am so sick of hearing and reading things from my family that says that they are "holding out hope" that i will come back.

or they say that they are praying to jehovah that i will come back.. what other religion is so crazy that they say these things?!?!?!?!

if a buddhist person decides not to go to their church anymore, do their parents/family bombard them with this crap?

I have a friendship with a lady in the congregation (a mother/daughter relationship)I have told her I am very turned off with the organization and do not want to be there.

She constantly tells me she knows I love Jehovah and will be back. I told her and others that I love Jehovah but can love Jehovah without being part of a organization. So she calls me yesterday I guess she was in field service and asked if she and the car group could come by. I told her no that I was not home she told me the group really missed me and wanted to see me. She then continued where are you? I was out of state which is only a 25 minute ride and then continued to ask me where? Typically I wouldn't be annoyed but she was questioning in field service.

I then called her this morning and told her not to come by with anyone she continues to say how many people love me etc.. I told her half of them didn't talk to me now they love me. Of course she is going to defend them etc. Oviously my situ is different but I have decided I have to cut off my association with her.........

It is so annoying, I think they feel we must be misrebel and are going to be destroyed or something. They think anything outside the organization is DOOMED.

I am happy I was never like that but because thats all know. I really feel bad for them.

an old friend of mine came by to do my daughters hair for a wedding while i was shopping.

my daughter was asking about how i was when we hung out (prior to the organization).

she told my daughter i was very funny and everyone wanted to be around me.

I don't know if it is because as I am older as I was 20 when I came in. I know being out I don't stress about everything now....

I just want to say Welcome and I love you too.

I am not a JW basher. I still love my brothers and sisters in the Truth. 2 years ago I was kicked out because I am gay. I miss it very much. It is home for me. I am looking for those that still love Jehovahs and his Orginization but for whatever reason (like being gay) are not aloud back in. PLEASE DONT BASH ME. I love you all.

I typically don't respond just read and enjoy the topics, but I do feel similar to you and felt you needed encouragement. I love Jehovah with all my heart and his son. I am greatful to him for my life and everything I have in my life. I miss organization in general too, feeling part of the group, and having immense support. I have been out for only about 8 months or so and I do feel lonley at times. I do not like the control of the Watchtower and how it controls its members. I do know Jehovah loves you and youare still one of his people. The friends stopped talking to me because I did not go to the hall and that was fine because that is what they feel is right. I am not bitter to them as that is all they know and love many and will always.

You go thru a confusion state as we are in JW mode. I had friends prior to me being in the truth for 14 years and they were good friends and loved me unconditional. One of them I have been activitely associating with.

There are good people out here who ill love you unconditionally.... If you ever need someone to talk to PM me. I wish you peace and happiness in all you do.

Suddenly - JWs are coming at me out of NOWHERE!

i have had 2 really nice experiences running into jws recently, and just wanted to share that even though most are still 'stuck up' and make the choice to shun me - there are still some really good ones out there that don't take the org directions on dfing seriously - and those are the ones i respect and continue to hold in high regard:.

1. my buddy that was in my circle of 'friends' when a jw texted me out the blue tues night.

i didn't remember him (saved only his 1st name in my phone) and just could not figure out who it was.

There are some good people who really do care, but feel that they can't associate with you.

If you DF'd then they would never cross that line. They are being disloyal to Jehovah (you know the organization).

People don't call me but once in the while they will email me I am not DF'd but they will say how are you, I always respond I am great thankyou for asking. The org has so much control over people unfortunately (I was one of them). and they can't see out of their bubble.

Looking in from the outside I feel bad for them.
